Japan surged past China to claim the Olympic gold medal, while the United States ended its drought with a bronze medal.

Daiki Hashimoto of Japan celebrated after winning their first Olympic team medal in gymnastics since 2008. They narrowly defeated Great Britain for the bronze medal.

This is the first time since 2008 that the United States men's gymnastics team has finished on the podium at the Olympics. They had not won an Olympic team medal in men's gymnastics since 2008, but their nearly flawless and gutsy performance earned them a medal this year.
