Southern California Struck By Light 4.4-Magnitude Earthquake

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake occurred in Los Angeles at 12:20 pm PT on Monday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), with an initial reported depth of 10 kilometers.
The quake was centered about 10 miles north of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley, and was felt as far away as San Diego and Las Vegas.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but the quake did cause some minor shaking and power outages in the affected areas.
The USGS says that the quake was likely caused by movement on the San Andreas Fault, which is a major fault line that runs through California.
The San Andreas Fault is responsible for some of the largest earthquakes in California's history, including the magnitude 7.9 Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 and the magnitude 6.7 Northridge earthquake in 1994.
The USGS says that there is a chance of aftershocks in the coming days and weeks, and they are urging residents to be prepared.
