Government Must Respond to Violence Against Women

MP for Ashton under Lyne's Demand

Angharad Williamson, MP for Ashton under Lyne, has called on the government to urgently respond to the issue of violence against women.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Williamson said: "Victims and their families have already been waiting too long. We need to see action now."

Williamson's comments come in the wake of a number of high-profile cases of violence against women, including the murders of Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa.

In response to Williamson's call, the government said it is committed to tackling violence against women and girls. The Home Office has launched a new campaign, "Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls," which aims to raise awareness of the issue and provide support for victims.

However, Williamson said that more needs to be done. She called on the government to invest in prevention programs, such as education campaigns and support services for victims.

"We need to send a clear message that violence against women will not be tolerated," Williamson said. "We need to do everything we can to protect women and girls and make sure that they feel safe in our communities."
